I'm Back!

So as I am sure you noticed, I haven't been writing much lately.  I have had A LOT of new things happening in my life, and I should have realized earlier, that this is exactly the time when I should write!

I could, and have, spent a long time sitting here or there, trying to figure out my life, make the big unchangeable picture of what to do, where to live, my career, the names of the three kids I am going to have with my perfect, loving husband.  Especially now that I am here in high school (finally) the pressure seems to close in around me.  "Samantha how old are you now?  Really?  Wow, you're almost ready to drive!!  Where are you going to college?  What do you want to be?"  We spend too much time focusing on things we are ready to do, have maybe a week of satisfaction for doing it, then ready to focus on the next thing.  Don't get me wrong or anything, it is important to have somewhat of a plan for your future, but it wouldn't kill me to enjoy what I have accomplished.  All summer spent thinking to myself, "I'm almost in high school, almost there!"  Well as I type, here I am sitting in the library.  Right here thinking to myself, "I made it.  One big step is accomplished."

As for my future... well.  I don't know.  I have an idea.  Many ideas I daydream about in bed at night, but recently I have set aside my plans for myself, and tried to focus on God's plans for me.  It is so hard to do that, I am finding, but also finding a feeling of accomplishement.  I never knew it could feel so good to smile at someone, who would be feeling sad, or angry, and see them smile back.  I read and talked about how God wants us to make others smile, make their world better.  I started doing it, because of God.  I still do it, not only for God, but for the person, and for me.  Right now, what I know about my future is that I want to find a place in America who needs their world changed, and change it.  I am aware it may not be the most practical plans, but right now it's all I have.  For now, that's all I need.

Take a deep breath and smile.  Make conversation.  Laugh.  Even if you don't feel like it now, in few minutes, you will.

Samantha :)

New Snippet!

Okay everyone, here is the snippet from my current story I've been promising.

Because it was dark, Max realized it would be pretty hard to see two golden bells tied together with a black ribbon.  Until he heard something.  A small ringing sound.  He paused, listening.  The sound had stopped.  Max back tracked two paces.  He heard the ringing once again.  Crouching down, Max felt around him.  When he finally reached to his left, his fingers dipped into water.  Turning to the water, he noticed a soft golden glow.  The bells!  Part of Max couldn’t believe finding them was that easy.  The other part was cautious.  How was he going to get them?
Dive in, Max thought.   Before he had another moment of hesitation, Max lost his balance and fell straight into the water.

Hey Everyone!

So, I have a cool new idea for a story.  Of course I'm not going to write much of it yet, seeing as I am already working on a story.  Actually the story I'm working on I have decided to change the title of it.  The title is now, Fantasy or Reality.

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked.  My new story idea is difficult to explain.  It is like things from another dimension come to live on earth and only certain people can sense them.  Sounds sort of boring right now, but it should be good.  I'm not sure yet of a perfect title, but an idea would be, Another World.  Sort of a lame title, don't you think?  Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure something out.  Do you have any ideas?  If so, please share them with me.  So here is a little bit of the new story that I can think of.

Now there's the good, the bad, and the just plain weird.  Now I'm talking about weird meaning an unexplained smell, whilst strolling down an alley.  Or a ringing in your ear that just does not go away.  Ever wondered where those things come from?  Most people just shrug and ignore it.  Or people with imagination might say, "It is the work of fairies!"  Now I implore you to open your mind to the possibility that it isn't fairies, but something we don't know about, something we shouldn't know about, but something that is just as real as you and me.

Just to make something clear here, this is a story.  Fiction.  I don't actually believe in that sort of thing.  So anyway I think I'll give you a snippet from my story I'm working on now.  In my next post.

Tata for now!

This is a picture of my dog, Denver. (Love the lopsided ears!)  He is two and a half.  He's pretty funny too.  For example, he likes to sniff leaves and such outside, and when he does he lifts one of his paws so daintily.  But then when he first goes out, he runs and barks at everything!  What does this have to do with writing?  Absolutely nothing.  Well, that isn't entirely true; I'm sure I could think up a good story with Denver in it.  I mean not as the main character, obviously, but perhaps a dog with a similar personality.  He is a Shetland Sheepdog, in case you want to know.

If you want to read things about writing, look at previous posts.  It's good for thinking!

Have a lovely day!
